Ray Alfaro, 27, is the founder and owner of Thee Barber Room LLC. Starting to cut hair at the age of 15 due to his barber quitting at that time, chose to attend Champs Barber School at the age of 17 after his mother complained he laid around the house being lazy during summer vacations.
Barbering was his second career choice after either electrical or a computer degree, but after seeing his success and growing clientele, Ray put all his focus on understanding the business side of barbering. Thanks to the industry, he has never worked a day under someone else. After 9 years of experience, he finally decided to expand making his dreams a reality by bridging his passion of barbering and becoming a successful entrepreneur.
He hopes his shop gives him the time to grow his knowledge to diversify his business portfolio. Any spare time that Ray does get, he tries to spend it with his family, being what he calls "his biggest blessing".
After completing 1/2 his hours at school, he went on to finish his other half with an apprenticeship at Clean Cut Barbershop. He gives lots of credit to Matt Schwalm, owner of Barber Styling Institute, for helping him perfect his skills.
Mizraim Ortiz, 29, started cutting at the age of 16 during high-school as he arrived from Puerto Rico to New Oxford, PA. He took advantage of the fact there were no reliable shops in the area to grow his experience and clientele.
Funny story, he was Ray's barber for a few years. When Miz decided to take a full time night shift job, he quit barbering on the side due to people unexpectedly showing up and waking him up. He started to focus more on barbering back in 2007. Ray asked Miz if he'd be interested in going full time as a barber and without hesitation, he quit his job a week before Thee Barber Room opened and hasn't looked back since.
Some of Miz's interest are music, cars, and growing as a musician. He spends most of his free time with family or helping with his church. He hopes to keep expanding as a barber and some day own his own brand of hair/shave product.
Jaime Ramirez started cutting at the age of 17. He acquired his barbering license in 2017 from Champs Barber School in Lancaster and started at Thee Barber Room right away feeling like it was the best fit shop for him.
His biggest interest is to grow as a barber and continue to learn more about the business side of things. In whatever free time he has, he spends it relaxing or with family.
Doug Krout, like most, starting experimenting with the barber world at the age of 22 by cutting out of his home. Getting his haircut frequently pushed him to look at barbering a bit more serious as a career than just a hobby. After watching tons of barber related videos on youtube, he took the next step and enrolled at Barber Styling Institute.
Doug loves the atmosphere that the barbershop offers. Look forward to one day owning and operating his own.
Enjoys hanging out with friends and family.
Mike Nelson has always had a passion for barbering because its more than just a haircut to him. You never know what someone is going through before sitting in our chair. Through cutting, he has the ability to at least listen and possibly help.
He prays to continue to grow within this career, to be better tomorrow then he is today.
Jordan Banks starting his path to barbering at the age of 23. Knowing how good it felt to get a clean cut, made him want to give the same excitement and feeling to others.
Jordan strives to become well known within this industry and one day gift his fiancé her dream car.
